Who are we?
G.S.Z.V. De Golfbreker
G.S.Z.V. De Golfbreker has been the student swimming club in Groningen since 1994. Furthermore, it is the largest, most successful, and most social student swimming club in the Netherlands. Next to the training hours in the Willem Alexander Sportcomplex, we have monthly drinks, many activities and we take part in the NSZK (Dutch Student Swimming Competition).
Practice
G.S.Z.V. De Golfbreker trains four times a week in the Willem Alexander Sportcomplex (WAS), where multiple trainers will help you learn and improve various swimming techniques. Our practice times and location of the swimming pool can be found through the link below. The level during practices is very diverse; you can continue your swimming career on a high level or just join to keep your body and condition in shape.
Competitions
If you like to compete with other students, you can take part in the Dutch Student Swimming Competition (NSZK). There are four NSZKs every year, every time in a different (student) city. Between these four NSZKs you can compete with the top of swimming students in the Netherlands at the (open) Dutch Student Competition (NSK). In addition to the competitive aspect of the competitions, the social part guarantees a lot of fun. The highlight of the weekend is always an amazing party, after which we stay overnight at the organizing club. During these weekends together you get to know the other members very quickly.
Outside of the pool
A lot is organized outside the pool as well. For example, we have a social once a month and our activity committee organizes a fun activity several times a year, after which we often also gather for a drink. You will also be kept informed every two months about the ins and outs of the association by our association magazine 'De GolfPreker' and moreover the Almanac is published once a year. Finally, here on the website you can also find all the news, photos and an up-to-date overview of all activities and competitions.
The first major activity of the season is the introduction weekend on Schiermonnikoog in September. The introduction weekend contains many fun activities and parties with many other Golfbrekers. Other special events are the Golfbreker Gala, a ski trip and the Batavierenrace.
