Congratulations! You have just reached the home page of G.S.Z.V. De Golfbreker, which is probably the largest, most social and most successful student swimming club in the Netherlands. “De Golfbreker” has something to offer everyone:


• We welcome those who have swum before and provide the chance to enjoy the sport and keep fit.
• We encourage people to join in with the many social activities which we hold throughout the year.
• For competitive swimmers “De Golfbreker” offers great training times which can help members to reach their full potential.


To sum up: G.S.Z.V. De Golfbreker offers room for swimmers looking for something more social than the ACLO-hours (as long as you are able to swim three strokes and keep up a little) as well as aspiring athletes looking for improvement and stimulation.

Training times (season 2009-2010):

  • Monday: 19.30 - 20.45 (fast swimmers)
  • Monday: 20.45 - 22.00 (intermediate swimmers)
  • Tuesday: 19.30 - 20.30
  • Wednesday: 17.30 - 18.30

 

The season has just started so if you would like to become a member of our swimming club or if you just want to check it out (you are allowed to join 3 of our training sessions for free), then this is the ideal moment! If you decide to visit one of our training sessions, please let us know in advance by sending us an email: bestuur@golfbreker.org.

The swimming pool we use is located in the WAS (Willem Alexander Sportcomplex, also known as the HIS-building), at the Zernikeplein 17. This building is located next to the exam hall, at the end of the Zernike area. If you are on your way to Zernike at the Zernikelaan, the HIS-building is at the end of the road. When you have reached the building, enter through the red revolving doors, climb the stairs and before you reach the canteen, climb down the stairs. You will find the changing rooms behind the vending machines. After the training sessions we usually cycle home together.

We also would like to draw your attention to the following. At the weekend of 18, 19 and 20 September 2009 we will visit Schiermonnikoog (one of the Frisian islands) . Each year we visit this island with al large group of current and new members to get to know each other better and to have a lot of fun. If you participate you will get to know a lot of people and you will become part of the more active group of our swimming club. If you want to join us to Schiermonnikoog, please let us know, because this way one of the board members can give you more information.
